The Sissy Butch Brothers Burlesque shows
have been the top week-end pick in The
Chicago Sun Times, The Chicago Tribune, The Red Eye, The Red
Streak, Crane's Chicago Business , and The
Chicago Free Press . The shows have also
been featured in The Chicago Reader,
Newcity, Nightlines, The Windy City Times, and UR
Chicago . Check out the Audience Reviews
and Photo Galleries below.
In July 2002, The Sissy Butch Brothers began holding
sold-out burlesque shows in Chicago to
raise money for their documentary on the history and revival
of the burlesque art form and industry. Each one has been outrageously
successful thanks to the funny, smart, sexy performers and amazing
audiences! The shows just keep getting bigger!

"Saturday, July 19th, I went to the Gurlesque Burlesque Extravaganza
at the Abbey, and I was completely blown away...Something
woke inside me, something that has been lying dormant
for a long time; a part of myself that I have now come to realize
is a vital part of my existence as a woman, my sexuality...
the Sissy Butch Brothers and all the women that were
involved in the Gurlesque Burlesque Extravaganza, you've helped
me see that there is a femme fatale in every woman,
from the fishnets to the fedoras, and you've awakened a little
lost dyke."

"Gurlesque Burlesque show was so much fun last
night!! I hadn't realized how many dykes there
are in Chicago. It was really witty and political
and pretty hot."

"I just got home from the Gurlesque
show...the show was outstandingly good, superbly
fun. I had a blast, and I even went in with a migraine.
Just know I can't wait till the next one!"

"I
just HAD to tell you how much I enjoyed the
show you put on this past weekend. I recently
moved to the midwest from San Francisco,
and it was so refreshing to be around people as
freaky and perverted as me again. Anyways,
keep up the good work and Happy Passover."

"I loved how bold the women were.
It actually really thrilled me!"

"Last
night's Bad-Ass Burlesque Show was a scream.
We only stayed for the first half (due
to today's aforementioned early-morning
dentist appointment), but the ladies were
lovely and the crowd went wild. There were
bearded ladies and throaty singers and
sassy fan dancers and strip-tease artists
who emphasized the tease over the strip
(nearly all nipples were chastely pastied),
...a friend exclaimed, "I think we're in
a David Lynch movie." It was the anti-Showgirls
-- kitschy and playful and damn sexy."

|
"Oh,
I LOVED it! It's just what I thought a good burlesque
show should be. It was funny and sexy and political - what more
could you ask for?"

"Last night we went to One Bad Ass
Burlesque Show. We saddled up to
the stage and remained in place for the next
two hours. Raucous good fun with
the lovely ladies and beautiful butches.
Definitely a night out unlike most."

"Never had I more desperately wanted
to be a dyke
as when I stopped
in to the Gurlesque
Burlesque show
at the Abbey,
put on by Sissy
Butch Brothers.
Such style!
Such finesse! Such
breasts. A
truly erotic feast
of costume,
dance, and music. Thanks
to Sissy Butch
for helping
to bring the lost
art of burlesque
roaring back
into fashion.
Never got up
to see the
Talking Glory Hole, though.
Oh, the stories
it must have
had to tell!"

"The acts were AMAZING...I was intrigued
by each one. The
small girls, the naked girls,
the big girls - all
were so sexy and hot! Oh,
before I get too
far ahead, I loved the music
before the show started
- it was perfect.
I think over all the event was
SUPERB, sexy, intriguing
and a bit magical."

|
"The performances were sexy, fun, revelrous, insightful,
wacky little jewels. I haven't been able to
stop thinking about the whole
evening."
